Southwest Airlines flight diverted to Denver over “pressurization” issue

A sudden depressurization forced an immediate diversion to Denver's airport, and one passenger describe it as a scary experience.

A Southwest Airlines that was flying from Las Vegas to Milwaukee had to be diverted to Denver over a sudden “pressurization issue,” according to a local news report.

Fox31 reported that the flight resulted in fire crews being scrambled to evaluate and treat patients once Southwest Airlines 100 was diverted to Denver at 8:30 p.m.

There was no incident with the plane landing, and it was sent to gate C-27. Some patients required some medical attention, and Denver first responders attended to them. One was sent to the hospital after slipping and falling. The remaining passengers were fine.

The passengers were boarding another jet to head to Milwaukee at the time of the report. One passenger called it a “scary experience” but the flight crew had handled it well.

The oxygen masks never deployed, and only a few passengers had any problems with the sudden change in pressure on the aircraft.

The airline later released a statement, stating that the flight had been diverted due to pressurization issues. It further states that six crew and 175 passengers arrived safely in Denver at 8:30 p.m., and the Boeing 737-800 aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected. The airline added that it will accommodate the flight to Milwaukee with a different aircraft, meaning their arrival in Milwaukee would be two hours late.

There was also a passenger injury due to a fall while deplaning.
