Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin end ‘conscious uncoupling’ with official divorce

Gwyneth Paltrow is back on the market alongside her soon to be ex-husband Coldplay singer Chris Martin after filing a petition for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

It was nearly a year ago that the 38-year-old singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin, and 42-year-old Oscar winner, Gwyneth Paltrow, coined the term “conscious uncoupling” when describing their official separation. It appears that it was just another way of saying ‘we’re heading down the drain but don’t know how or when we will admit it to the world.’ The couple has officially reached a divorce settlement filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The petition for divorce seemed inevitable to the public spectators ever since May 6, 2013 when their somewhat awkward announcement was publicized.

After nine years and five months of marriage, it is safe to say that they gave it a good go and seem to be amicable with “consciously uncoupling” the children. They agreed to joint custody, both physical and legal, of their Daughter Apple, who is now ten years, and Son Moses, who is nine years old. As for the property, according to TMZ the terms of their community and separate property was still TBD. According to the filing, as per California State Law, the divorce cannot be finalized for another six months. Maybe during this time they will ‘consciously recouple’ and all will be good again in A-list land.

All in all, it is unfortunate that the renowned actress and admired rock star were not able to reconcile as they did publicly state, ‘it is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.’ Not to be confused with uncoupling. Separate actually means permanent to the couple.
