The study also busted a few myths, including the idea that certain ethnicities have larger or smaller penises -- they don't -- or that shoe size provides any indication of how well-endowed someone is.

You may be more well-endowed than you think.

A new study that examines 15,000 men around the world indicates that the average length of an erect penis is 5.16 inches and the average circumference is 4.59 inches, according to a Huffington Post report.

The study also found that the average length of flaccid penises if 3.61 inches with a circumference of 3.66 inches.

Dr. Gordon Muir, a urological surgeon at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London, said that the analysis is the first systematic review of penis size measurements and that he wanted to help answer burning questions men often have that weren’t answered by the lower qualitiy studies that had come before, according to the Huffington Post report.

Muir added that many men wrongfully live in shame thinking that their penis is abnormally small and may even go through harmful surgery.

His team examined 20 studies covering a wide range of men of all ages and nationalities that were measured via a wide range of tecniques, and then they tallied up averages and created graphs showing the distribution of sizes for both flaccid and erect penises.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no connection between penis size and race: all ethnicities enjoy about the same length. There’s also no truth to the idea that you can judge the size of a person’s penis by how big the person’s foot is: there doesn’t appear to be any connection, the researchers found.

Muir said it was wrong to judge the size of a penis, as most penis sizes are normal and are simply varied, much like shoe sizes.

The findings were posted in the British Journal of Urology International.
