On Friday, two 911 calls came through for the same tragic emergency. The police report says that two children, Philip McCarty, 6, and Laci McCarty, 7, were killed and another 5 month old, Christopher Swist was left in critical condition when their mother stabbed them. Officers report that they found a woman holding a knife and standing outside a home located in Palm Bay around the 1100 block of Kenmore St NW.

 

That woman was identified as Jessica McCarty, 33. She has been charged with first degree murder on two accounts for the death of her 2 children and another single account of attempted murder for leaving her third child critical. On Saturday, McCarty was booked to Brevard County. She will be detained without bond for her case.

 

Late Friday night the Sheriff’s Office of Brevard County, detectives of Palm Bay and the investigators were still up working on the case, trying to connect the dots. Two 911 calls were received by the police regarding the incident, the first one coming in around 6pm.

 

The police said that the father of one of the children arrived at the scene quickly after the 911 call. He found the children unresponsive. He made the second 911 call to police that night.

 

When police arrived at the scene they found Jessica McCarty standing in the front yard wielding a knife and being uncooperative. They did eventually get her to a hospital and detain her. Investigators still don’t know why McCarty would do such a horrible thing.
