Google bans porn from Blogger

The ban goes into effect on March 23, and any blog that violates this rule will be made private, restricting viewership to just people who have had the blog shared with them.

Google has decided to ban porn on its Blogger platform, according to an announcement posted on its website.

PC Magazine reported that Google has informed its users that publicly sharing images and video that are sexually explicit or show graphic nudity will no longer be permitted on Blogger as of March 23.

Nudity will be allowed in cases where it is presented in an artistic, educational, or scientific context, the search giant added.

Blogs that currently have sexually explicit imagery will be made private, meaning that while the content won’t be deleted, it won’t be viewable except for people with whom you have shared the blog.

Blogs that were created before March 23 that violate the new policy will need to remove the violating content to avoid being made private.

If the blogger doesn’t like the policy, he or she will have to take their content elsewhere. You can do that by exporting the blog as an .xml file.

Google expects to be strict with blogs that are made after March 23, and new blogs that include sexually explicit ocntent or graphic nudity will be removed, or have other action taken against them.

Google has been trying to squeeze out porn from its sites. Sexually explicit content is not allowed on YouTube, and in 2013 the search giant started cracking down on adult ads on Blogger.

Blogger is a blog-publishing service that enables multiple users to create entries that are time-stamped. It was created by Pyra Labs in 1999.
